Mabel Cunningham
Belfast, ME
I was delivered by my great-grandmother early
in the morning of June 17, 1930 in the small town of Knox, Maine. She also
named me.
I attended elementary school at a little old
two room school house in the same town. Later I attended high school at
Freedom Academy in the small town of Freedom not far from there. It was
there that I met my husband-to-be. We were married in 1948 and had a
daughter in 1949, my only child.
We moved to Hartford, CT in 1953 and lived
there about five years which was very enjoyable. Also, we traveled to the
west coast and lived in Long Beach and San Francisco, CA for about a year.
After that we moved back to Belfast, ME, seeing that we already had a home
here.
My husband got ill and passed away in 1981.
I have two wonderful grandchildren; a girl, 21 and a boy, 20, and they
have brought much joy to my life.
I've worked at various jobs, retired in 1990.
In the evening I like to do puzzle books where I first started to do cryptograms.
Also enjoy listening to radio talk shows and to short wave radio. I'm not much
of a TV fan. I like all kinds of music, but lean towards country. Since I've
had my computer, I enjoy the MIDI tunes. I do different crafts, but mostly
crochet.
Although I have my own place I spend most of my
time with my daughter and family. I do a lot of walking to the store and
around town. Seeing this is a coastal town it's very scenic by the shore.
Many things have been improved in recent years. I look forward to John's
cryptogram every Sunday, which I solve most of the time. I'd like to say
"Hello!" to all the cryptogrammers and the best of luck!
